I'm a cognitive and developmental psychologist working interesting in udnerstanding Cultural Evolution. No other organism has 'culture' in the same way we do. I'm interesting in why this is so, how this came to be, and what influence it has. In so doing, I study beliefs, ritual and religion, and adult imagination.
I completed my PhD in Experimental Psychology at the University of Queensland, then spent two years as a postdoctoral researcher at Oxford's School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography, working within Professor Harvey Whitehouse. I later held a lectureship at Keele University before joining Durham University in 2023, where I am now Assistant Professor in Behavioural Science.
